Tomorrow’s The Big Day

Tomorrow at this time Molly will be at the vet and I will be at work – trying to concentrate.

Tuesday I took Molly to the vet to pick up her prescription for the Fentanyl patch. She came in with me, and the vet came out to give her lots of kisses. I told her that Molly was looking forward to her “spa day” on Friday, and the vet said to Molly that she was going to trim her nails….very, very short.

After that, we went to the pet store to try and find some super-yummy treats. After much exploring and sniffing, we decided that the hot dogs and braunschweiger at home were better than anything there.

Today she goes in around lunch time to have her patch put on. Not sure what to expect after that – maybe drowsiness? Hoping to take her for one final 4-legged walk before we go. A nice, slow one where she can take all the time sniffing that she wants.

  1. Molly looks gorgeous!!! We’ll be following you and sending all the positive energy we can muster.

Spending that time today taking a wonderful slow walk sounds wonderful–enjoy! Soon you’ll be taking wonderful slow hops!

  2. Awww, that is wonderful. The fentanyl patch might throw her for a loop so don’t be surprised if the doctor didn’t already tell you (I am sure they did) You’ll probably have a sleepy pup. It is good to put it on today though. First of all it should take the pain away from her bad leg. If it doesn’t take it all away it will take a lot away. Second, that fentanyl is absorbed into the skin so it will be well into her system tomorrow when she recovers from her surgery.
Hopefully you can go on that slow walk that you would like but it might be very limited.
Keeping fingers, toes, and all paws crossed for you and Molly!

  3. Haha! From Molly’s perspective she’s thinking surgeries are the best rhing ever! Yummy food….”spa day”…extra walks….crazy good pain patch…yeah, not a bad pre-surgery day!

I like that the Vet is VERY proactive about pain. And yes, as Jackie said, Molly may be whacked out…or very restless and vocal! It can go either way’

    Update is when you can.

And gobble down your chocolates 😁
